We built the company on the foundation of a very experienced team of professionals, each of which spent at least 15 years in investment management services with top financial institutions across major jurisdictions.
The skillset needed for this type of work encompasses technical, financial, mathematical and intellectual capabilities that only time, and experience of economic cycles, can provide. The emphasis in our team is on the study of economic and industrial history, where most often the elements of future development can be found.

Listed Markets
In essence, we attribute an economic value to a company and either buy or sell if the market price is below or above what we think.
Our investment management expertise covers industries and markets where high quality companies can be found. Over the decades we created our own definition security selection framework, a combination of top-down, bottom-up and quantitative analysis.
Our final aim is to invest only in high quality businesses. These companies proved to be more resilient businesses in times of recession and more accretive in times of expansion. These characteristics respond to the need of protection and growth of our clients’ portfolios.

Private Markets
As the past 15 years of financial markets’ history show, the amount of borrowed capital generated by zero-rates in the United States has created a tectonic shift upwards of valuations in listed markets. The spillover to private markets was inevitable, pushing valuations of private markets to unprecedented heights and improving liquidity by the formation of a lively private equity industry in the United States and Europe.
From a technical perspective, there is little difference in the process of appraising the value of a private or listed company. These differences are mainly found in the amount of public information available to investors, the existence of a variable liquidity premium and access.
From an investor’s perspective, the quality of one’s access to opportunities determines one’s investment returns. This reality logically follows the nature of today’s Western private equity industry.
Today, Index & Cie has the best possible access to private market opportunities by partnering with large institutional investors. We also have the freedom to participate exclusively in the deals we deem worthy, in full adherence to our independent nature.
Crypto Markets
Our team recognized a long time ago that crypto assets would have eventually amounted to a large enough new asset class.
As an investment management company, Index & Cie is bound to find investment opportunities that offer the possibility to our clients to protect and grow their wealth.
After 15 years since the launch of Bitcoin, the crypto industry still displays strong concentration features in clear contradiction to the founding principles of Nakamoto-san. There is much to be achieved, fixed, legalized and proven.
As capital market investors, we are trained to seek fundamental solidity and growth. Such characteristics are not yet clearly manifest in any crypto project available to investors. Therefore, the metrics on which this asset class should be valued seem to be those of scarcity and utility to solve real-life problems – rather like the requisites of registering a patent.
With the current configuration of this asset class, we think some select assets are liquid enough and can reasonably provide exposure to high growth rates, when adequately controlled.
Index & Cie was one of the first investment management companies regulated by the DFSA to be awarded the crypto license.
Real Estate Projects
In the same spirit of high quality and access, Index & Cie has partnered with local real estate developers of exclusive standing that are responsible for some of the most luxurious and rare projects in the region.
While not entirely negatively correlated to returns from equities and bonds, the real estate asset class has provided a beneficial smoothing degree of the cyclicality of other major asset classes, a feature severely restricted by lack of liquidity in all other minor asset classes.
When rarity is added, real estate projects tend to provide a strong degree of protection and anchoring to a client’s portfolio.
